About Us

Hey, we are Aliya and Andrea, two friends who have been big karaoke box fans since our time living in Japan and South Korea. Ironically, we’re also really terrible singers (no, really) and it was only in Asia that we discovered that karaoke with friends is a lot more fun (and requires less talent) in your own room than on a stage.

So we decided that it was time to introduce the concept of karaoke boxes here in Munich. We are fortunate to be supported by a group of great friends who believe in our idea (and overlook the fact that we are only beginning to have an idea of what we are doing here).

We are still friends, we still like to sing with friends and we look forward to seeing you!

Yokocho is a Japanese word for a back-alley nightlife district, lit by a myriad of lanterns and lined by cozy bars and restaurants – a favorite hangout spot for locals and tourists alike. Our Yokocho is a love letter to Japan, the birthplace of karaoke, and home of the best nightlife in the world (that’s a fact, fight us).

We built a life-sized replica of our idea of the perfect night out in Japan’s greatest cities. A cosy streetscape atmosphere, unpretentious drinks, snacks and surroundings, a space that encourages people to meet and leave as new friends, and of course hours of bonding over our universal love of a good song.
